Technology Overview
What is Volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) ?
Volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) are a group of chemicals used to protect metals from corrosion. VCI works by releasing molecules into the air, creating a thin protective layer on metal surfaces. This protective layer prevents corrosive substances, such as oxygen and moisture, from coming into contact with the metal, thereby preventing rust and corrosion.
1. VCI powder (PT-VCI):
Powdered VCI is commonly used to protect small metal parts during transportation and storage. VCI powder can be sprinkled directly onto the parts or placed in a bag or container with the parts.
Purpose of (PT-VCI):
- During PLANT production, storage and transportation
- Internal surfaces of piping structures, radiators, boilers, engines, tanks, prime movers, etc.
- Closed circulatory system, hydraulic test
- When packaging various tools, parts, etc. in boxes and transporting containers for various machines
- Can be used for packaging and storage of all other metal products
2. VCI film:
VCI film is a thin coating applied directly to the metal surface. VCI film can be applied, sprayed or dipped. VCI film provides longer lasting protection than VCI powder and is ideal for applications requiring continuous protection over long periods of time.
Purpose of VCI film:
- Auto parts, precision machined parts, bearings, steel materials, etc.
- Equipment, machinery… it is difficult to use anti-rust oil
- When storing metallic materials for secondary processing
- Packaging machinery, spare parts, and metals for export
- It is effective when used on metal products and parts used in transportation.
3. VCI MASTERBATCH (PT-VCI M/B)
PT-VCI M/B is a product that is dispersed by mixing and dispersing a high concentration of NON-NITRITE vaporizing rust preventive agent in LDPE resin. When this product is mixed in an appropriate amount to manufacture films, sheets, etc. , excellent rust prevention effect is achieved due to the vaporizing rust preventive agent contained in the product.
How to apply:
- Produce rust prevention film by mixing PT VCI M/B with raw materials such as PE RESIN in appropriate amounts and using the same process as extruding general industrial films.
- When mixing this product with raw materials, avoid using recycled raw materials, and it can be mixed with other additives (pigment, etc.).
- When extruding film, evaporable rust preventives may decompose at temperatures above 200 degrees, so use at high temperatures should be avoided.
- When extruding the film, special care must be taken to ensure that the PT-VCI M/B is evenly distributed.
